Seasonal jobs in France

France’s diverse range of winter terrain offers some of the best skiing and boarding in the world. France is a very popular country with season workers but you do need permission to work in France. Many of the resorts in France are linked together to produce vast ski areas for those who enjoy covering miles of piste. When choosing a resort to work a season (you will not normally have a choice as Tour Operators usually place you where needed) but if you do it is a good idea to consider your options carefully. If you are a beginner or intermediate skier or snowboarder it may be a good idea to look for one of the better all-rounder resorts such as Alpe-d’huez. This resort offers excellent beginner and intermediate piste, as well as some good advanced and off piste stuff as you progress towards the end of the season.

Chamonix is a beast of a resort and offers a different perpective. It is home to the highest peak in Europe, Mont Blanc, and is generally more suited to more experienced skiiers and boarders. It is a resort which has become incredibly popular for snowboarders looking to work a season (good in a way but work and accommodation can be harder to find). Having said that, Chamonix is a large town which will help your chances of finding work, it also has a fantastic nightlife.

Hundreds of British, German and Dutch tour operators employ people of all ages to work Summer jobs in France. It's not just for students, in fact quite often people who are a little older than the usual 18 - 25 age bracket can be preferred for their life experience and maturity (in theory!). There is no real upper age limit as long as you are fit and healthy enough for the work and heat. Look for agriculture, camping and summer chalet jobs.

France is fantastic but the down side to working in France can be a relatively high cost of living. This worry can be reduced if you manage to find employment with a company that will cover your living expenses (often accommodation, sometimes subsistence).
