Responsibilities
- The job will be varied, and you will need to be flexible and enthusiastic to fit with The Moorings ethos.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the good running of the Moorings bar and food service operations. Including meeting and greeting customers and playing an active role on the bar and floor.
- Leading the induction and ongoing training of all bar staff.
- Bringing new and creative ideas to develop our product offering.
- Alongside GM and restaurant manager assist in the planning, set up and delivery of a range of events.
- Supplier management – managing relationships with our on island suppliers and conducting regular cost comparison across suppliers with the view to reduce costs where possible.
- Monitoring price and duty increases and adjusting prices accordingly to ensure GP targets are met.
- Management of EPOS system to monitor stock levels and wastage.
- Ensuring highest standards of customer service, cleanliness and safety are maintained at all times.
- Acting as a line manager to all front of house staff. Ensuring excellent communication is maintained between front and back of house.
Skills and experience needed
- Minimum 2 years' management experience ideally in a fast-paced restaurant.
- A strong working knowledge of all aspects of the bar including wine, ales and cellar management.
- Creative thinker who is always looking for ways to improve be it product offering, customer service or operational efficiency.
- A genuine passion for food, beverage and customer service.
- Professional, reliable, flexible, adaptable with a positive attitude.
- Experience leading and training a team, ensuring a positive and fun working environment is maintained. Managing staff welfare and ongoing professional development.
- Previous experience with offsite catering and events ideal but not essential.
- Full driving license.
