Situated right at the heart of Alderney, The Georgian House is a much-loved pub with rooms, a restaurant and a garden. The Georgian is known for it’s legendary year-round calendar of events, from wild live music gigs, to weddings, to ukulele sessions. The constant buzz of the cosy pub and the sunny garden makes it even more welcoming to both locals and visitors alike.  We make the most of our island environment, from sourcing the best produce Alderney has to offer to specialising in outside catering and events in stunning unique locations. We’re looking for friendly staff with a passion for great customer service.

Key Responsibilities

As Bar Manager you will take responsibility for The Georgian Houses beverage operations. The job will be varied and you will need to be flexible and enthusiastic to fit with the Georgian House ethos.

• Oversee the good running of all bar and food service operations. Including meeting and greeting customers and playing an active role on the bar and floor
• Leading the induction and ongoing training of all bar and front of house staff
• Bringing new and creative ideas to develop our product offering across cocktails, wine, beers and more
• Alongside GM and events manager assist in the planning, set up and delivery of a range of offsite events in unique locations
• Supplier management – managing relationships with our on island suppliers and conducting regular cost comparison across suppliers with the view to reduce costs where possible
• Monitoring price and duty increases and adjusting prices accordingly to ensure GP targets are met
• Management of EPOS system to monitor stock levels and wastage
• Ensuring highest standards of customer service, cleanliness and safety are maintained at all times

Skills and experience needed

• Minimum 2 years' management experience ideally in a food lead pub or restaurant
• A strong working knowledge of all aspects of the bar including cocktails, wine, ales and cellar management
• Creative thinker who is always looking for ways to improve be it product offering, customer service or operational efficiency
• A genuine passion for food, beverage and customer service
• Professional, reliable, flexible, adaptable with a positive attitude.
• Experience leading and training a team, ensuring a positive and fun working environment is maintained. Managing staff welfare and ongoing professional development
• Previous experience with offsite catering and events ideal but not essential
• Full driving license
