Our programmes cater for children and teenagers, aged between 7 and 18 years old. The role is residential your food and accommodation is included. You will report directly to the Welfare Coordinator throughout your employment. At all of our schools, we have a management team of 4-5 staff and the staff to student ratio is 1:6
As a Welfare Leader at Samiad Summer School, your role will involve overseeing the wellbeing and safety of our international students. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual who can guide and support students in maximising their enjoyment of the summer school experience.
Role and Responsiabilty
- Provide direct support to students, addressing their emotional and wellbeing needs.
- Conduct regular check-ins with assigned students, being a friendly and approachable point of contact.
- Promote and maintain a safe and secure environment for students.
- Join and supervise activities, ensuring both fun and the safety and wellbeing of all students.
- Promptly report any safety concerns to the Welfare Leader.
- Follow established protocols for emergency response and support.
- Communicate effectively with students, fellow team members, and other staff.
- Promptly report any concerns or observations to the Welfare Leader.
- Collaborate with the Welfare Coordinator and other team members to ensure a cohesive and supportive welfare program.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of student welfare incidents, interventions, and support provided.
- Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity in handling student information.
- Monitoring the cleanliness of the boarding houses and bedrooms, and assisting with making them presentable before student arrivals and departures.
- Ensuring students are using the laundry facilities and assisting in locating any missing items.
- Hosting boarding house meetings to distribute important upcoming information, identify any issues with room facilities, and address room-sharing concerns
- Lead and supervise excursions once a week, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students.
- Take on responsibilities for house duties, such as wake-up routines and oversight, contributing to the overall goal of promoting a positive atmosphere within our summer schools.
- Carry out all other reasonable tasks.
Qualifications and essential requirements
- No formal qualifications required.
- DBS checks will be carried out.
- Experience working with groups of children.
- Organisational skills.
- Enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for working with young people.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and multicultural environment.
- A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred, but not required).

Pay and working hours
Welfare leaders are scheduled for 18 sessions, two mealtimes daily. Each day is divided into three sessions — morning, afternoon, and evening. Pay starts at (£375) per week, inclusive of food and accommodation.
