Acorn Celebrates 35th Anniversary

POSTED ON 25 Jan 2017 - POSTED BY Acorn Adventure

Our 35th anniversary Gala was a great opportunity to reminisce about Acorn's history and catch up with some previous staff members!

We recently enjoyed a trip down memory lane at our 35th anniversary Gala where we shared stories and sang the Acorn Hakka, one of our favourite songs from over the years. There were lots of faces there, past and present with some great stories to share about their times with Acorn. We seem to have touched so many lives in our 35 years and many of our former staff and pupils have gone on to do some fantastic things (having been inspired by their experiences at Acorn, we are told). We've also discovered there are lots of Acorn marriages and babies out there!

Andrew Gardiner, Acorn's founder and Chair, is so proud of Acorn's staff and Party Leaders who have contributed so much to Acorn's success and he would like to thank everyone that has worked hard to make Acorn what it is today.

Keith King, former teacher from Northgate School (who took his pupils to our Ardèche Centre for over two decades) was also there and thanked us for all the happy times him and his pupils had with us. He said:"An incredible journey spread over nearly a quarter of a century. A real privilege to have taken over a 1000 children from a small Norfolk town to experience the amazing adventure that is Acorn. If I could do it all over again, where else would I want to be?"

Watch the Acorn Hakka here: https://www.facebook.com/AcornAdventure/videos/1126555037394295/, performed brilliantly at our 35th anniversary Gala by Ian Dutton (former Village Manager, now Head of Commercial at Birmingham City Football Club). We would like to thank Ian for hosting the event and for joining in so whole heartedly! We would expect nothing less of one of our best ever ViMs (and there is a lot of competition for this title!)
