Beaujolais Nouveau November 15th
- Holiday Park Bar Work
- Pub/Bar Staff
The story of this great tradition started back in November 1970 when 2 Frenchmen sat together over a meal of coq au vin.
As the night wore on and many bottles of wine were consumed, an idea was born. The challenge was to see who could arrive back in London first with a boot full of Beaujolais Nouveau.
By 1973, Fleet street journalists also entered into the challenge. Alan Hall, then a coloumnist for the Sunday Times, threw down the gauntlet to see who could provide the first bottle of the new vintage to his desk the quickest.
Today the race starts in the UK and ends in deepest Burgandy , and showcases some of the worlds most expensive and exclusive cars. The aim at the end of the day is always the same...
Who can deliver the first bottle of the newest vintage back to the UK the quickest with the primary aim of raising money for charity.
