Breckenridge legalises pot

POSTED ON 02 Jan 2010 - POSTED BY SeasonWorkers

Breckenridge now allows people to smoke pot and is being called the Amsterdam of the Rockies.

Breckenridge now allows people to smoke pot and is being called the Amsterdam of the Rockies. The law was passed in November and enacted on New Years Day. The law has been voted for by locals (overwhelmingly by 70%) and now anyone over 21 can possess up to an ounce and whatever else they need to roll a joint. Like Amsterdam, its still illegal to buy, sell or grow cannabis and as soon as you reach the city limits it’s illegal to possess it again

A reason given by locals for this decision is they think that by leaving the social pot smokers alone the Police will have more time to spend on dealing with more serious issues. The resort said that safety is still their priority and they won’t tolerate stoned disturbances.
