Why We Need Your Help

Many of the schools in South Africa don’t have the resources to be able to give their students a proper physical education, and that’s where you come in! Volunteers on this project work with kids from underprivileged backgrounds in the townships of Port Elizabeth and give them a chance to use sports facilities they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

While good sports facilities make a difference, any sportsman will tell you it is a passionate, knowledgeable and dedicated coach that made them fall in love with their sport. This is exactly who we are looking for to take coaching sessions, run matches, organise tournaments and improve the lives of children through sport.

While the programme is sport-focused, there is the opportunity to develop personal life skills among the children. Confidence, leadership and the ability to work with others are all aspects of sport that transition directly into life-skills, and improvements to health and emotional wellbeing mean that the benefits of the project transcend the boundaries of a football pitch.

Helping children learn these important attributes at an early age can drastically change their lives in a positive way. One of the best things about Sports Coaching in South Africa is that you do not need a formal coaching qualification; you just need to love sports, kids and have a sense of adventure!
