Graduate loves every minute of ski season with Crystal.

Hi, I am Ellen. I joined Crystal last year when I finally got the opportunity to do a winter season after graduating in French and Applied Criminology from Canterbury Christ Church University. After seeing how much the Hotel Hosts enjoyed themselves when I spent a week in Les Deux Alpes in France on holiday I was keen to get a taste of the experience that I’d heard so many friends rave about.

I was lucky enough to be offered the role of Hotel Supervisor – Housekeeping in Claviere, Italy, which combined my management experience with the various housekeeping jobs I had during my degree and proved to be the ideal job for me. One of my highlights was going from a die-hard boarder to a keen skier (although I still can’t decide which is better!), and managing a 180 after one week on skis. My 360 attempts resulted in some rather bad bruising so maybe I’ll save those for next season…

We always got star treatment by the owners of our local bars who loved putting on themed nights for us including a fantastic End of Season party with a live Red Hot Chilli Peppers tribute band. Other best bits included skiing the 2006 Olympic runs in nearby Sestriere which was included in our Milkyway lift pass and the ski show which left a rather hazy memory due to the copious amount mulled wine consumed.

I’m currently working as a Recruitment Advisor for the Crystal Ski programme for the rest of the summer but am heading out again this winter. Here’s hoping my next winter season is as fantastic as the last!
