Visit Britain predict holidaymakers will stay in Britain this summer rather than travel abroad, they cite the strong Euro and the recession as the principle reasons for this. The Caravan Club are reporting a 40% booking rise, cottage operators 20% + and Butlins are 15% up. Pontins are gambling £50 million to renovate six seaside holiday camps. This will create 2,000 summer holiday jobs over the next three years. Ian Smith, the chief executive of Pontin's, says he thinks the British holiday camp is well due a revival. The new jobs will include chefs, bar workers, Blue Coats and senior staff. Butlins have also invested heavily this year and are reported to have said that they will also need increased summer staff following a 15% rise in bookings.
