Rockley managing director Pip Woods commented: “We were very pleased to be given the opportunity to tender for the position and having learnt more about the BSC’s vision, are delighted that we will be working with the club. Both Rockley Watersports and BSC share a common goal for the future of the club, which I’m sure will benefit club members and the wider community.”
Pip added “The club is in a fantastic location with great facilities. We believe that our experience of creating programmes which inspire local community engagement will ensure that everyone within the surrounding area has the opportunity to get involved with all kinds of watersports from sailing and windsurfing to stand up paddleboarding and kayaking, enabling the club to fulfil its vision for the future.
“As a company, Rockley Watersports is very passionate about making sailing and watersports accessible to everyone and we are very excited to be working with an equally committed forward-thinking club and local partners to ensure the club’s ongoing and future success.”
Bartley Sailing Club Vice Commodore, Caroline Whitehouse reflects on the new partnership; "We are very pleased to be engaging with Rockley Watersports to provide outdoor activities and watersports at the club and we looking forward to developing a strong working relationship in the future together. We hope to see the club and its facilities used to it’s full potential and are keen to see more people and members coming through our doors."
Established since 1976 Rockley currently provides residential and non-residential training, holidays and activity trips at its two centres based in Poole and three centres in south west France. This new venture will complement the Company’s existing services and allow them to reach a wider market.
Bartley Sailing Club was founded in the late 1970's when a few hardy souls from existing local sailing clubs began sailing on the Bartley Reservior. The RYA-approved watersports centre has grown into a comprehensive site on the edge of the reservior in the South-Western outskirts of Birmingham.
