Are you one of the lucky 5350 who have managed to secure themselves an IEC Working Holiday Permit for this winter? If so, congratulations! As securing a permit has become increasingly difficult over the last couple of years, the hardest part of your application process is already over! But hold on, it’s not time to sit back and relax just yet. Now really is the best time to start looking at your work options in Canada; having a job, accommodation and a support team both in the UK and in Canada lined up before you go will certainly help you ease your way into your new lifestyle- something that can be quite daunting!
Canada is a fantastic place to work. Not only can you explore the beautiful diverse country, indulge in the friendly Canadian culture, but also, if you’re looking to really try something new, the option is always on offer to work somewhere like Tremblant and improve your French whilst gaining valuable working skills.
The options for work in Canada really are endless. If French isn’t your thing, have you considered trying your hand as a ski instructor in Whistler, or taking in the exciting lifestyle of a hospitality worker in the Rockies, spending each day enjoying the perks of living in a top class resort? In a few months your work routine could change quite dramatically if the chance for a quick lunch break ski is on the cards!
As there are no more spaces available for the IEC Working Holiday Visa for Canada in 2014, sadly many of those who hoped to work in Canada this winter have been unable to. If this applies to you, why not look towards applying for the winter season of 2015, to really get your planning underway.
At Oyster, our main advice to you is to not leave any planning too late. If you have a secured a work permit in Canada for this winter, or if you are hoping to gain a permit for the winter of 2015, it’s best to start being active now. If you wait until spring 2015 to apply, you may be too late and will have to push your working holiday back even further- until the end of 2016! Take a look at our programmes listed on seasonworkers.com to see if we can help you along your way to working in Canada. With our years of experience at Oyster we can help guide you on this process, offering a helping hand whenever it’s needed.
If you have any questions, or just fancy a general chat about working in Canada, feel free to contact Jon ([email protected]) on 01892 771972. Working in a new country can be overwhelming, so make sure to plan as well as you can before going to really get ahead of the game!
