£350M project brings ski resort jobs to England

A bit of positive news for both the snow sports industry and the jobs market came with the announcement that a £350m winter sports resort is to be built in Suffolk

The huge indoor SnOasis development will transform an old quarry into a holiday destination.

Despite the developer's claims that the resort would bring "enormous economic benefits" there was substantial opposition to the project from local groups about the increased traffic, size of the building and environmental impact of the project.

Apart from ski resort jobs in England, the plan is for the centre to become the country's first centre of excellence for winter sports training.

Godfrey Spanner, managing director of Onslow Suffolk, said "SnOasis will now become a reality bringing with it countless opportunities for jobs, the local and national economies, education, athletes and the winter sports industry."

Snoasis Concern said "This is the largest refrigerator in Europe."
