POW POW!
What comes with fresh snow fall in St Anton? One of the biggest off terrian ski areas in the world. Heli drops. Amazing ski touring. So with the fresh snowfall coming in on wednesday that meant our day off this week took us to the ski area of Sonnenkopf a very quiet resort with loads of pow pow.
With just a 30 min bus journey from St Anton its still a key area on the ski Arlberg pass but its a treasure that most tourist forget about. We were in the Sonnenkopf ski area by 10.00am giving us the 6 hours of amazing off piste skiing. After a couple of falls and getting the hang of digging ourself out of the snow again we found our powder legs and it was time to have some fun. Its now time for apres, and St Anton never lets you down when it comes to apres. With live music in most bars we decided to head to Underground for one, then it was time for Bar Cuba and a game of shot the box. Whats shot the box? You have 2 dice and a box with flip down numbers on from 1-9, you roll the dice and the total of the 2 numbers get added together and you then have to put 2 numbers down adding to the total amount of the 2 dice, the person with the most numbers still left at the end has to buy everyone a shot of jagermeister, I havent lost yet!!
There is always an event just around the corner in St Anton, last sunday was the Kirschbaum Battle held at the Stanton park up the Rendl side and next sunday is the 42nd International Galzig cup. With nations coming from far and wide this should bring a fun filled transfer day!
