The experience of a lifetime

POSTED ON 13 Jul 2012 - POSTED BY Crystal Ski

Chalet life - everything you need to know.

There is no other life, than a chalet hosts life.

This role is such a diverse role, where you will gain a huge amount of transferable skills to help you later on in life and your future career.

You will meet and communicate with a variety of our customers and make friends for life with people from all parts of the world.

You will have the opportunity to ski or snowboard at least five times a week with the benefit of a beautiful mountain range being on your door step; it really is your playground.

You will be responsible for ensuring our customers have the best possible experience and have a front row seat in seeing them enjoying the fantastic holiday experience that you are providing.

Your day starts at 7.15am in your chalet preparing and serving breakfast. During breakfast you will have time to make your afternoon tea cake and prep for the evening meal. Once breakfast is finished at 9am this is when it is your time to make your chalet look inviting for the guests when they return from skiing. By cleaning the rooms and public areas and laying out a beautiful afternoon tea display your guests will have a home from home feel when they return from the slopes.

After morning service, this is your free time to go and explore the mountain. You will have from 11am to 5pm to ski/board and even squeeze in a power nap before heading back to your chalet at about 5.30pm. This is a great time to talk to your guests about what they have been up to and what you have done that day with your free time. After clearing away afternoon tea and laying the table for dinner, the 3 course evening meal will need to be cooked and served at 7.30pm. Once your kitchen is cleaned down you will be leaving your chalet around 9pm to go and meet your team for a few sociable drinks that evening in one of the friendly ski bars.

Accommodation in resort will be on a shared basis and is a very sociable way of living and getting to know your team. You will have equipment hire and a lift pass as well as your food/drink in your package so your wage really is just your spending money.

It doesn’t have to be a one season wonder either, the company has excellent career opportunities that you can ask us about on assessment days.

I had one of the best seasons of my life as a chalet host. It is an unforgettable experience where you will meet friends for life and have the experience of a lifetime. I originally started with the company for 1 season, but 10 seasons later I am still here and enjoying it just as much as when I started 8 years ago. I have progressed every season, as Crystal dedicates a huge amount of time developing their employees to be the best they can be.
