Applications for our 2018 Leap for Success Scholarship programme is open. Leap for Success is aimed at individuals looking for their first steps into the industry or those looking to up-skill and become qualified RYA instructors.
The Scholarship is aimed at both our key returning staff and to the wider world of individuals who are looking at starting their career in the watersports industry and want to up-skill and become qualified RYA Instructors with a passion and who want to work with Rockley in the future.
Here one of our Leap Graduates tells us why he chose the programme to help kick start his watersports career.
Scott Crowhurst - Graduated 2016
"I heard about Rockley while studying the BTEC Outdoor Sports at Plumpton College. I then started working with Rockley in 2015 as a Paddlesport Instructor.
While working with Rockley I heard about the Leap for Success scholarship and last winter I took part in the RYA Dinghy Instructor course. After my second season working for Rockley in France I also gained my RYA Windsurfing Instructor qualification recently through the scholarship scheme."
Scott is currently working in France as a Centre Senior and aims to work with Rockley for another year before going travelling and working with the qualifications he has gained.
"The best thing about working for Rockley it the ability to use the watersports equipment in my spare time to further develop my skills."
Scott's Top Tip – Work hard but play hard too!
