We hope you will be able to contribute to its success by joining one of our resort teams in St Anton, Courchevel, Meribel or Val d'Isere. Powder White has teamed up with Tante Marie Culinary Academy to create a fabulous menu for our chalets during the 2017-18 season.
Who are Tante Marie?
As the UK’s longest established independent cookery school, Tante Marie Culinary Academy has developed an internationally acclaimed reputation for excellence.
Tante Marie Chalet Cooks Academy: Are you (or someone you know) looking to improve your cooking skills so you can complete a season with Powder White?
Our chalet hosts all enjoy cooking and take pride in what they serve and while they are not necessarily qualified chefs, they have good experience of dinner party cooking and many of them will have attended one of the well-regarded cookery schools with whom we work closely to ensure the highest calibre of staff possible.
The Tante Marie Chalet Cooks Academy is the perfect starting point for school leavers or those embarking on a year out and looking to work a ski season. This bespoke course will take students through a range of essential, culinary skills across several areas of cookery and introduce them to the practical knowledge and skills required from ski chalet hosts. What kind of food will be on the menu?
If choosing the fully catered or part catered option, you will be assured of good home-cooked food prepared and served by great ambassadors for Powder White.
They will not offer luxury items or haute cuisine, they’ll serve good wholesome, hearty food fit for anyone after a hard day on the slopes. Menus will be varied and may include local dishes as well as the more traditional UK favourites such as roasts, lasagne or casseroles.
Here are some of the dishes that Tante Marie have worked on for you to get excited about…
• Carbonnade of beef
• Ratatouille with grilled halloumi and chilli jam
• French roast leg of lamb
• Oven roasted Mediterranean vegetable tart
• Pear and raspberry crumble
• Little chocolate pots
Pear and raspberry crumble
We (and our guests!) are incredibly lucky to have tried and tested recipes being cooked in our chalets. You can expect a variety of breakfast options – English Breakfast, Omlettes or even pancakes to go alongside the continental options.
Afternoon tea is full of all those favourites! Scones with jam and cream or delicious brownies for when you get back from the slopes!
You’ll enjoy an array of canapés, starters, mains and puddings. Finished off with some cheese (if you can fit it in!) and some chocolates/mints
Powder White has been set up by a team who really understand the ins and outs of chalet holidays both from a staff and guest perspective. We have all done many seasons ourselves and recognise the importance of providing amazing food to ensure everyone is getting as much as they possibly can out of their holiday.
All lovingly made by one of our Chalet Hosts!
Why go on a catered chalet holiday?
Catered chalets are the easiest and most cost-effective way to enjoy a holiday in the Alps! Staying in a catered chalet with Powder White not only gets you breakfast, afternoon tea and a 4-course evening meal, you also get unlimited wine included! A choice of 3 whites, 3 reds and 1 rose to be exact…!
What could be more relaxing than having a cooked breakfast every morning*? Then after a hard day skiing or maybe an après drink or 3…coming home to a freshly baked cake waiting for your arrival, followed by some evening canapés and your 3-course meal being cooked by a hand-selected host in the comfort of your accommodation? *excludes chalet host day off
What about the restaurants in the resort?
As a Powder White guest staying in a catered chalet, our Assistant Resort Managers will reserve a table for you on the Chalet Host day off (typically a Wednesday in France and a Thursday in St Anton).
Therefore you can still enjoy some traditional cuisine on an evening in the resort of your choice. We can also recommend a great range of lunch restaurants on the mountain. Uniquely to Powder White, as well as offering fully catered chalet holidays, we also offer Part Catered chalet holidays. On a part-catered chalet holiday, you can pick a certain number of breakfasts and evening meals so you can still go to your favourite restaurants but you’ll have the benefit of some home cooking as well.
Hungry? We are…! Book your next catered chalet with Powder White!
If you need to know anything else about our catered chalets, get in touch today and our holiday team will advise you on the best chalet for you.
