Careers beyond your ski season...

If you are reading this then you might be thinking about getting into the ski industry or maybe thinking about taking your ski knowledge and experience to the next level...

When I was first looking for something to follow from my three ski seasons I was determined to find a challenge that would give me the drive to get out of bed in the morning. I was looking for something that was more than just a job, I wanted an environment to work in where people shared my passion.

Working at Skiworld has given me the chance to develop my career in something I truly love and although my daily ride is on a bike and not an untouched powder field at least I get to talk about it every working day.But why is it so great to work for the Skiworld London team?

Run by skiers for skiers

This is our motto and we really believe it! As a dedicated ski specialist, we really know what we are talking about and we like to talk about it too. In our London office alone we have over 40 years of ski season experience- that kind of knowledge, experience and shared appeal is rare to find. If we were able could build a ski slope out the back of our office we would! Everyone that we bring into our company shares this ethos and passion, maybe it’s why we've been around for so long.....

Location, location, location

Where you work is very important. Our West London office is nestled between Ravenscourt park and the river Thames making it the perfect place to enjoy all the delights London has to offer. You'll often find some of the team playing cricket or tennis in the park at lunchtime or down by the river enjoying a few drinks on a sunny evening.

Also, being just a stone’s throw from the District Line means the bright lights of the central London are only minutes away.

Our offices are in a quiet mews have been converted from an old warehouse which makes it a light and spacious environment to work in, in fact the entire office atmosphere is as far away from a typical stuffy office as you could imagine!

The Benefits

If what we have already said does not sound tempting enough we also have a few things that sweeten the deal. Every year we run a number of educational trips where our staff have the opportunity to go and visit our chalets and accommodations in Europe or travel a little further to see our incredible resorts in the USA and Canada.

Because we own and run the majority of our properties we are able to offer all staff that work for Skiworld huge holiday discounts which increases the longer you work for us. But we don't just to keep this to ourselves we share the love. Alongside receiving staff holiday discount, we also offer our friends and family’s discounts as well. So not only do we benefit, our friends and family do too!

We also run a cycle to work scheme for those in the office who fancy themselves as the next Chris Froome, but most use the scheme just to keep themselves fit. For everyone that works in our London office that genuinely is something just that bit extra, from unique our sales team incentives, to our company benefits scheme. Industry linksWith 35 years of experience within the industry we've picked up a few links along the way. Be that the relationships we have built with our overseas resorts in Europe, America and Canada, who regularly come and visit us to show us what they offer, or be it industry discounts like the reduced rates for the "Ski & Snowboard show" and the latest and leading ski brands. That being said it’s not all about us. We also give back. We are officially affiliated with the most amazing charity Snowcamp who take intercity children and give them real life opportunity’s and prospects though snow sports. Every year we not only raise thousands of pounds to support the charity, but we also take on a Snowcamp apprentice who comes to work with us a Skiworld HQ as part of the programme.

The Social

A lot of places claim to have social and friendly atmosphere. Here at Skiworld we take it to next level! We have a dedicated social committee who organise monthly socials be that BBQs, Outdoor cinemas or a trip to winter wonderland! Our Christmas parties are also something to remember ("if you can..."). During our “company week” celebrations where we review our season, the business also puts on a number evening actives and on one night they put on something a bit more special. Last year we went on a brewery tour and this year we treated to an evening of wine and cheese tasting.

Industry leaders

Being the largest independent ski operator also has its benefits. Because we aren't corporately owned we have the ability to be as flexible and agile as we need to be to stay ahead of the ever-changing marketplace. We are however big enough that everyone who works for us has the range and diversity to keeps them engaged and challenged constantly. We really feel that everyone has an equal input into making our business so successful and we are all part of the "Skiworld Family"

End of Season Trip

Some say you save the best until last… well we follow that saying. Every year we plan a trip and the take whole of London office out to our flagship property - the Lodge in Val D'Isere. Not only is this an amazing and fun experience it is also a great opportunity for the London staff to see first hand what we live and breathe, as well as meet our overseas teams. As it’s our 35th birthday this year so we are really expecting this season to go off with a bang!

We really are a company that is 'Made in the Mountains' and we are so proud of that.
